Montserrat's volcano has been erupting on and off since 1995; MVO's 0-5 Hazard Level decides which land and sea zones are open, and it can change.

As of October 2026: Hazard Level 1, activity low and broadly consistent with unrest since 2019, no public access to Zone V, Maritime Zones E and W daytime transit only. Zones A, B, C and F are open at Level 1. Read the MVO weekly report (mvo.ms) and listen to ZJB Radio Montserrat FM 88.8 before arrival and before transiting south. Ashfall and sulphur dioxide advisories come from the DMCA (+1 664 495 7166).
