SLAC Clearance Office, Simpson Bay

18° 2.2′ N · 63° 5.7′ W

The blue round building beside the Simpson Bay Bridge that houses Customs, Immigration and the Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority (SLAC) collection office - one stop for clearing into Dutch Sint Maarten and paying bridge and harbour fees.

Practical

Located in the police station just west of the bridge on the canal; the police dock in the channel is for drop-off/pick-up only and is also an active ferry dock - do not leave dinghies unattended (or tie at the St Maarten Yacht Club and walk over). IMPORTANT (Oct 2026): the police dock is under construction from October 7, 2026; Immigration/SLAC services were directed to the Great Bay Immigration office in Point Blanche, with a temporary facility planned for the second half of October 2026 at the ferry dock at Princess Juliana Airport, open 7:00 am to 6:00 pm - verify before going. Peak-season hours reported in 2026: Customs 8:00 am-7:00 pm and Immigration 7:00 am-4:00 pm, 7 days (they differ by season; one sailor in June 2026 found the cashier closing at 4:00 pm). Bobby's Marina lists Simpson Bay Immigration 8:00 am-4:00 pm and the clearance office 7:00 am-5:00 pm daily, tel +1 721 545-3183. Bring passports, ship's papers and outbound clearance from your last port; staff prefer printed paperwork. Immigration monitors VHF 12.
