Fort Karl
17° 53.6′ N · 62° 51.0′ W
The scant ruins of Fort Karl on the hill south of Gustavia, built by the Swedes in 1789 to cover the southern approach, now a short-walk lookout over Shell Beach, the harbour and the west coast.
Practical
OpenStreetMap position. Steps lead up from the Shell Beach side of town; little remains of the fort itself. Combine with a swim at Shell Beach.
Best for
A 15-minute leg stretch with a view
