Chutes du Carbet

16° 2.5′ N · 61° 38.3′ W

Three great waterfalls on the flank of La Soufriere: the easy, paved path to the 110 m Second Fall is Guadeloupe's classic rainforest walk, while the 115-125 m First Fall is a harder 3-hour trek with river crossings.

Practical

Start position (Chutes du Carbet reception area, Capesterre-Belle-Eau) from the national park Geotrek database. Second Fall: 1 hr 30 min return, 1.4 km, easy (trek 1208). First Fall: 3h, 4.8 km, +504 m, difficult; do not attempt after rain or if the river rises (trek 1210). Third Fall: from Petit-Marquisat, 2h, 3.7 km; a municipal bylaw forbids going down to the fall itself (trek 16908). Site open daily 7am-5pm; entry from June 2025 EUR6 adult, EUR4 child, EUR14.50 family (park website). Best reached by car from Pointe-a-Pitre or Riviere-Sens.
