Nawiliwili Port of Entry (CBP and Agriculture)

21° 57.3′ N · 159° 21.4′ W

Nawiliwili, like Port Allen, is a designated US customs port of entry, so a boat arriving from a foreign port - or the Pacific Cup fleet's return leg - can in principle clear on Kauai; in practice call CBP before you commit.

Practical

Coast Pilot: Nawiliwili is a customs port of entry (Port Allen is also listed). Noodle's Notes lists Port Allen and Nawiliwili among the CFR vessel ports of entry and reports that the CBP ROAM app makes entry relatively painless, often without officers visiting the boat; the Hawaii area overview notes a 2013 report that clearing at Nawiliwili and Port Allen was no longer possible and that all crew may need a face-to-face inspection - confirm with CBP. DOBOR lists for foreign vessels: US Customs Port Director (808) 822-5673; US Department of Agriculture (808) 245-2831. Vessels arriving from another US state must check in with the Hawaii Department of Agriculture, (808) 832-0566 (Noodle's Notes). Pilotage is compulsory for foreign-trade ships, not yachts. Coordinate: NOAA tide station 1611400, Nawiliwili.
