Milolii Landing and Village
19° 11.1′ N · 155° 54.4′ W
Called 'the last Hawaiian fishing village', Miloli'i sits where the 1926 Mauna Loa flow reached the sea, off the grid with solar panels and rainwater tanks. The small concrete landing and the end of the paved road are a short walk from the Honomalino and Okoe anchorages.
Practical
Coordinate is the Milolii Landing point in the state harbor GIS layer (DOBOR facility at 89-1825 Milolii Road, Captain Cook; contact (808) 464-0840 or DLNR.BD.HonokohauHarbor@hawaii.gov). Coast Pilot (October 2026): concrete boat landing with 7 ft alongside and a 2,000-lb hoist; the current off the landing usually sets north and can reach 2 kt; a dangerous reef extends about 400 yards offshore at the south end of the village; there is no protected anchorage off the landing. Milolii Point Light (19-11.22N 155-54.48W, 44 ft) is on a 20-ft white pole with a diamond dayboard. Noodle's Notes mentions a small store at the end of the paved road. The waters off Milolii are a state fisheries management area (South Kona (Milolii), HAR 13-95-18, in the state GIS layer); learn the rules before fishing. Anchor at Honomalino or Okoe and walk or dinghy over.
