Kaunakakai Wharf and Guest Dock

21° 4.8′ N · 157° 1.7′ W

The roughly 1,900 ft state wharf and 700-yard mole that run from town out past the reef, lit at night and lined with local fishermen; it doubles as the cruiser's dinghy landing, water source and fuel-truck rendezvous.

Practical

There is no dedicated transient guest dock: Coast Pilot 10 says the 29 small-boat slips are all reserved for regular occupancy and no visitor slips are available, so plan to anchor and land by dinghy at the dinghy dock and launch ramp at the north end of the wharf (Sea Seek). Water is piped to the wharf; gasoline and diesel are delivered by tank truck (arrange through the harbor agent, (808) 553-1742; the island has no fuel dock). When barges are present the wharf is a secure area and ID is required. Vessel washdown and restrooms at the DOBOR facility. Regular Maui-Molokai ferry service ended in 2016 (to-hawaii.com). The shoreside end is about a 10-minute walk from Ala Malama Avenue.
