Kapuaiwa Coconut Grove
21° 5.8′ N · 157° 2.3′ W
One of the last royal coconut groves in Hawaii, planted for King Kamehameha V, its tall palms lining the shore just west of town; across the road is Church Row, seven small missionary-style churches.
Practical
On the highway about a mile west of town, visible from the harbor approach. Falling coconuts are a real hazard: stay out from under the palms, especially in wind. Kiowea Beach Park adjoins it (poor swimming, shallow reef).
Best for
A short walk or ride from the harbor for history and photos
