Honuapo Bay Anchorage
19° 5.0′ N · 155° 32.9′ W · approximate
A slight indentation in the Kau coast 13 miles northeast of Ka Lae, offering deep anchorage off the ruined Honuapo pier.
Practical
Coordinate approximate (placed off Whittington Beach Park; plot on a chart). Coast Pilot: good anchorage in about 20 fathoms for deep-draft vessels, but the bay is exposed to the trades and offers little protection for small craft. Most prominent from offshore is the 236-ft cliff 0.5 mile southwest of the bay. Treat as an emergency stop only.
