19° 44.0′ N · 155° 3.5′ W · approximate

Practical

Coordinate approximate (east side of Kuhio Bay near Hilo Harbor Lighted Buoy 9, 19-44-03.7N 155-03-28.2W). Operated by Hawaii DOT Harbors, Port of Hilo, 80 Kuhio Street, (808) 933-8850 / 933-8853. Pier depths 25 to 35 ft; harbor draft limit 32.5 ft. Gasoline, diesel and water are available at the state piers, but all fuel is trucked in - there is no yacht fuel dock (Noodle's Notes). Ice and some marine supplies in town. No drydock; a 50-ton marine railway and machine, electrical and welding shops for above-waterline repairs. A safety zone surrounds the commercial piers (33 CFR 165); a flashing amber light on the Pier 2 shed means a gas leak - stay clear and upwind. Hawaii Pilots (pilot boat PAUKAA) monitor VHF 12 and 16.
