Hanamanioa Point Light

20° 35.0′ N · 156° 24.7′ W

The navigation light on Cape Hanamanioa, Maui's southwest extremity, a black lava mass you round to get from La Perouse Bay onto the open Kanaio coast.

Practical

Light at 20°35'00"N 156°24'43"W, 73 ft above the water, on a 21 ft post with a black and white diamond dayboard (Coast Pilot). A current is reported to set constantly northwest past the cape, but observations a mile southeast showed a tidal current of 0.8 kn at strength. The Kanahena light it replaced (1884-1918) stood inside today's NAR. Reachable on foot along the Hoapili Trail.
