21° 19.5′ N · 158° 7.0′ W · approximate
Oahu's second commercial deep-draft harbor, a man-made basin on the southwest corner of the island whose northwest corner opens into Ko Olina Marina.
Practical
Approx position of the basin from OpenStreetMap. Coast Pilot 10: about 2 miles northwest of Kalaeloa; dredged channel leads northeast with 40 ft controlling depth (2021) and 36-38 ft in the basin, marked by lighted buoys, lights and a 045.9 degree lighted range; security and safety zones; 1,600 ft dock; a ship-repair company with an 18,000-ton drydock; customs port of entry; winter arrivals should expect large north swells. State pilots board ships 2 miles southwest; pilot boat monitors VHF 12 and 16 ('Barbers Point Pilots'). Ko Olina Marina's entrance, marked by lights, is in the northwest portion of the basin. Offshore: Barbers Point Light (21-17-47N, 158-06-22W) with a reef 0.6 mile off it; three offshore tanker mooring terminals with unlit buoys inside a restricted anchorage and security zone, so stay well south; west current to 0.8 knot off the point. A 2015 Noonsite report praised the Phoenician boatyard at 91-573 Malakole St for shaft repairs and chandlery (dated, verify).
