Thynni Cave (Kyparissi North Cove)

36° 59.1′ N · 22° 59.9′ E

A cave mapped on the rocks just west of the little Agios Nikolaos harbour — explore the clear water and limestone edges of the north cove by dinghy or with mask and fins.

Practical

Coordinate is the mapped cave entrance 'Spilaio Thynni' (OSM). Our sources give no depth, size or access details for the cave itself — look first from the dinghy, and never swim into a cave with swell running. Visit Peloponnese describes Kyparissi's beaches (Mikri Ammos, Megali Ammos, Agia Kyriaki) as having crystal-clear water; Agia Kyriaki is beside the north cove. Keep clear of the quay approach. If you meet a Mediterranean monk seal in or near a sea cave, MOm advises: do not enter, swim slowly away along the rocks without blocking the entrance, and report it (24-hour line +30 694 249 4471).
