Poros Harbour (Kefalonia)
38° 8.9′ N · 20° 46.8′ E
A small southeast-coast port with all-round shelter and ferries to Kyllini — the jumping-off point for Zakynthos and the Peloponnese. Not to be confused with Poros island in the Saronic.
Practical
Coordinate is the SailingIssues waypoint "Poros – Pronos bay" (N38°08.947' E20°46.784'); Sea-Seek gives 38°08.82'N 20°46.82'E and says to berth at the new quay in the SW corner, good holding, fuel delivered by mini tanker. Year-round car ferry to Kyllini (Wikipedia). Visitors use the pontoon, go stern-to or alongside the NW pier, or stern-to the west town quay. The fishing basin is too shallow for keels. Keep north of the yellow buoy if present. Approach: round the green harbour light, then steer about 250° toward the west town quay, watching the depth — silt shifts and the GWP chartlet is outdated (Garmin and C-Map more current). Ferry wash. Free drinking water from uphill lakes. Taverna Ktima Agrapidos on Cape Pronou. The Poros gorge and Atros monastery (Kefalonia's oldest) are inland.
