Myrtos Beach

38° 20.8′ N · 20° 32.1′ E

A long white-cobble beach under 900 m cliffs whose marble grit turns the water an unreal turquoise — the most famous view on Kefalonia and a Captain Corelli's Mandolin film location.

Practical

Pilot-listed fallback anchorage when Assos gets NE–SSW winds; otherwise a calm-day stop only — steeply shelving and exposed to the west. Busy by road in summer (tavernas at Divarata at the top of the road). Wikipedia beach coordinate: 38.3429, 20.5362.

Best for

Swim stop under spectacular cliffs
