Assos Castle Walk

A climb from the village up into the Venetian fortress, one of the largest in Greece, with ruins, chapels, Venetian cannons and big views down the west coast.

Practical

Coordinate approx: castle plateau west of the village. Entry free. Built 1593–95 by Marino Gentilini; never used in battle, partly because it had no spring. No water up top — carry your own.
