Loggerhead Turtles of Argostoli Harbour
38° 10.4′ N · 20° 29.7′ E · approximate
Loggerhead turtles feed year-round in Argostoli harbour and the Koutavos lagoon — you can often see them surface right beside the boats on the town quay.
Practical
Coordinate approx: inner harbour by the quay. Koutavos lagoon is a nature reserve. Watch the water when manoeuvring — boat strikes injure turtles. Don't feed or touch them. Wildlife Sense runs turtle monitoring on Kefalonia; report injured turtles to them (kefalonia@wildlifesense.com, +30 698 4865941). Turtles nest on the south-coast beaches.
Best for
Watching turtles from the quay
