Leonidio Rock Climbing
37° 10.3′ N · 22° 51.2′ E
Leonidio's red-and-grey limestone walls hold more than 2,500 sport routes, making the town one of Greece's most important climbing destinations — and a perfect rest-day plan for climbing sailors.
Practical
Coordinate is the Órama crag above town (OSM); dozens of sectors are mapped around the valley (e.g. Hot Rock, Red Rock, Hospital, Douvari, Rocspot, Theatro, Gerovrachos). More than 2,500 routes; the official South Kynouria municipal guidebook funds crag maintenance (climbinleonidio.com). Gear and topos: Panjika Climbing Shop (OSM 37.16768, 22.85774) and walk4fun / climb2red (OSM 37.16706, 22.85976). Many crags face south and get hot in summer; Visit Peloponnese notes some face north. Kyparissi and Poulithra also have climbing.
Best for
Rest-day sport climbing from the Plaka quay
Season
Best Oct–May; summer climbing on shady sectors early
