Kastos Harbour (Kastos)

38° 34.1′ N · 20° 54.7′ E

The single village harbour on tiny, low-lying Kastos, with a windmill cocktail bar on the point, a few tavernas and mooring free of charge — the Inland Sea at its quietest.

Practical

Sailingissues.com: go stern-to the breakwater inside the basin, or anchor and take a long line to the west or north beaches; in westerlies go stern-to on the outside of the breakwater, keeping at least 10 m out. The northern breakwater takes one boat alongside (more rafted), about 2 m at the tip, bow pointing north. Poor holding (set a second anchor); solid shelter only in SE-S-NE winds; katabatic NE gusts come off the mainland at night; untenable in SSW. Only about 9 monohulls fit on the premium breakwater berths; keep clear of the last 10 m, painted yellow and black. my-sea: eastern mole 1.5-4 m, its rocky corner partly shallow; western part anchor in 3-4 m and run a long line to the staples on the promenade. No water, power, garbage disposal or facilities; mooring is free. A water taxi runs to Mytikas. Tavernas open in summer; a minimarket is behind the harbour (my-sea). Fills fast in season: arrive early. Sailingissues waypoint (east of port): 38 34.100 N, 20 55.400 E.
