Gouvia Bay Anchorage

39° 39.7′ N · 19° 51.2′ E

The enclosed bay around Gouvia Marina has long been a free alternative to a marina berth, with mud-and-weed holding in flat water — but anchoring in its northern part is now prohibited, so check before you drop the hook.

Practical

Coordinate from mySea (anchorage logged in 10 m, mud and weed; a second mySea point at 39.66537, 19.85759 is similar). SailingIssues (2025 edition) states that anchoring in the north bay is now prohibited, presumably since the marina extension — confirm where anchoring is allowed with the marina on VHF 69 or the Port Police before staying. Keep clear of the buoyed entrance channel and the marina approaches. The Venetian Arsenal ruins and Ypapanti church are on the bay shore.
