Tokmakia Isles (Lesvos)

39° 19.1′ N · 26° 24.7′ E

A cluster of low islets off Lesvos' north-east coast with white sand, turquoise water and colourful soft corals — a day-trip favourite from Mytilene and Molyvos.

Practical

Grecosailor: expansive sand in 3–5 m with good security, sheltered from SW to NW but rolly in north-easterlies; the bottom shoals quickly to under 1 m toward the north — keep off. Nearby: Palios (39.3283, 26.4203; sand in 3–4 m) and Asproniso Bay (39.2961, 26.4363; room for 3–4 boats, held in moderate NW). Alternative Sailing describes anchorages on the four main islets (Tsoukalas, Aspronisos, Barbalias, Panagia) chosen by wind, with dangerous reefs between them; the only inhabitants are gulls, cormorants and wild goats. About 14 nm from Mytilene.
