Stavros & Kouvari Bay (Patmos)
37° 17.5′ N · 26° 32.5′ E
The west-facing bay on the Stavros isthmus at Patmos' narrow waist, with Kouvari pebble beach at its head — the best of the Stavros/Diakofti options in a north-westerly.
Practical
One bay, two names: Sailing Issues' 'Stavros (north)' waypoint (used here) and Grecosailor's 'Paralia Kouvari' waypoint (37°17'30.3"N 26°32'30.2"E) are only about 60 m apart, so they are merged into this one entry. Best protection in NW winds, but expect katabatic gusts off Mt Diavolo (Sailing Issues). The whole Stavros/Diakofti area is overgrown with weed and anchoring is difficult: the seabed off Kouvari rises quickly and Posidonia gives only average holding, so hunt for the sand patches and check the set (Grecosailor). Open to the west and south-west. A taverna sits at the foot of the path over to Psili Ammos (Wikivoyage). Boatyard, chandler and marine services are across the isthmus at Diakofti.
Best for
Meltemi lee on the south-west coast
