Skiathos Airport approach (runway by the harbour)

39° 10.7′ N · 23° 30.2′ E

Skiathos' runway runs along the north-east isthmus right behind the new port, so jets come in low over the bay — famous with plane-spotters, and a real air-draft hazard for yachts.

Practical

Coordinates are the airport reference point (Wikipedia). Do not anchor inside the airport approach cone: the Dream Yacht base guide (2021) says no vessel with a height over 4 m may anchor in the landing path. Planes pass very low over Skiathos harbour (yachting.com). Plane-spotters gather at the runway end; Xanemos beach lies directly behind the airport (MarinaTips). Airport code JSI, 2 km from the new port; taxis wait at the terminal and there is no regular airport bus.

Best for

Plane-spotting from shore; knowing where not to anchor
