Skiathos Marina

39° 9.9′ N · 23° 29.6′ E

The new-port pontoon and pier on the east side of Skiathos town — the only proper yacht-charter base in the Northern Sporades and the usual start and finish of a Sporades cruise.

Practical

About 70 berths on a pontoon and pier on the western side of the new port (MarinaTips); a 350-berth expansion has been planned but not built. Contact the port agent on VHF 77 before entering for a guest berth; it can be hard to find space at weekends when the charter fleet is in, and Sailing Issues reports the charter pontoon is effectively closed to visitors from about Friday noon to Sunday night (Storm Daniel damage in September 2023, repairs still pending when it wrote). Not every berth has lazy lines, so be ready to use your own anchor; an old mooring chain runs about 30 m parallel to the pier. Water and electricity on the pontoon via chip card, not always working; no toilets or showers at the marina. No fuel dock: fuel comes by mini-tanker truck to the quay (Dream Yacht base guide 2021, MarinaTips). Entry is straightforward and well lit at night; approaching from the south keep Daskalonisi islet to port. Expect taverna noise in the evening and low aircraft over the harbour. Phones in the Dream Yacht 2021 guide: marina +30 2427023841, Coast Guard +30 2427022017; the Port Police office opens at 8am for transit-log stamping (noforeignland reviews). Dues: minor fees collected by municipal officials — verify locally.
