Rupert Brooke's Grave

38° 47.1′ N · 24° 36.8′ E

The marble tomb of the English war poet Rupert Brooke in an olive grove above Tris Boukes Bay. He died on a French hospital ship off Skyros on 23 April 1915, on the way to Gallipoli, and the tomb carries his poem The Soldier.

Practical

It is reached by the road to Tris Boukes; most visitors take a taxi or hire car from Linaria or Chora. Southern Skyros has a military presence, so keep to the road. If you are anchored in Tris Boukes it is a walk up from the shore. There are no services nearby. A separate bronze memorial statue, Immortal Poetry, stands in Chora.
