Megalos Mourtias (Alonissos)
39° 8.4′ N · 23° 50.5′ E
A big sandy bay below Chora at Alonissos' south-west end, with the Meltemi taverna and a red-dot path up to the old village.
Practical
Anchor ONLY on the west side of the headland: two submarine power cables run on the east side (signs on the Meltemi taverna roof and 200 m east) — allow 200 m either side. Huddle in the NW corner in 3–5 m, solid holding in sand; an annoying swell can get in; lines ashore possible. Improvised walkway with marginal dinghy depth (cleats and rings). Good snorkelling (Sailing Issues).
Best for
Overnight with a hike to Chora
