Maistros Bay & Kastraki (Agathonisi)

37° 28.3′ N · 26° 58.7′ E

A small north-coast bay by the ancient port and fortified Hellenistic site of Kastraki.

Practical

Anchor close to shore (preferably east) in 5–7 m in thick mud; little swinging room. Dangerous in NW–N winds and swell; a natural harbour in S or E winds. Archaeological museum permanently closed; desalination unit nearby. Not to be confused with Katholiko (former fish farm removed in 2025 but still on C-MAP and Garmin) (Sailing Issues). Grecosailor's 'North Bay' (sand 5–7 m, tiny dock, path to the village) is in the same area.

Best for

Southerly refuge with ancient ruins

Season

S or E winds only
