Levitha is a remote, low islet between Leros and Astypalaia, home to a single farming family who lay moorings in the East Cove and grill fish and meat for visiting yachts. It's one of the great off-grid stops of the Dodecanese.
Practical
East Cove (the pilot-book cove): about 10 moorings laid by the Kamposos family, fee €7 per night (2011 and still 2018; verify locally). Buoys are close together; for the innermost, motor down the south side of the cove, where there is room to turn. Consider sending the dinghy with your warp. Anchoring is poor: debris on the bottom can foul an anchor, and strong westerlies send fetch across. All four south-side coves are protected from the meltemi, but strong gusts hit the approaches. No water, fuel, provisions, garbage service or phone signal; take your rubbish away. Showers at the Kamposos compound. 23 nm from Skala (Patmos) and 32 nm to Astypalaia.
Best for
Remote moorings and a family taverna between Patmos and Astypalaia
Season
Summer only (taverna); meltemi-protected
