Grikos Bay (Patmos)

37° 18.1′ N · 26° 33.8′ E

A broad east-coast bay below the resort village of Grikos, a short ride from Chora and the classic alternative to a crowded Skala.

Practical

Anchor in 4–7 m over sand on the shallow rim — the bottom drops to 15 m+ only about 80 m off. Strong NW gusts. The 14 mooring buoys are no longer maintained and 'cannot be fully trusted' (Sailing Issues, 2025); Stamatis restaurant (tel +30 22470 31302) may have a secure buoy. T-shaped pier is only 2.5 m at the tip and under 1.8 m alongside — dinghies only. Many day-trip mooring lines: use a tripline. Approach hazards: Chelia (unlit), Kavourounisia (lit) and the reef off Cape Prasovouno at Patmos' southern tip. No shops; a few restaurants and a pizzeria.

Best for

Overnight near Chora when Skala is full
