Vaporia District & Agios Nikolaos Church (Ermoupoli)

The 19th-century shipowners' quarter of neoclassical mansions perched on the rocks above the sea. It is crowned by the Orthodox church of Agios Nikolaos, Syros's patron saint.
Practical
Coordinate is Agios Nikolaos church (OSM); the Vaporia mansions run east and north of it down to the water. From the yacht quay it is a 10-minute walk past Miaoulis Square and the Apollon Theatre. Swim below the mansions at the Asteria platforms (see Asteria). Dress modestly to enter the church.
