An international summer festival of opera and classical music in the 1864 Apollon Theatre and around Ermoupoli, founded in 2005 by conductor Peter Tiboris.
Practical
Position is the Apollon Theatre (OSM). The 2025 (20th) season ran July 17-27 with full operas (Strauss's Elektra, Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia), a Liederabend, chamber, symphonic and jazz concerts, and a children's show. Founder Peter Tiboris died in autumn 2024. 2026 dates were not posted when checked (Oct 2026), so check festivaloftheaegean.com. Book tickets early and plan a quay berth for the nights you have seats. visitgreece.gr also lists the International Classical Music Festival of the Cyclades, Animasyros (animation) and the Ermoupoleia festival.
