Psathi Harbour (Kimolos)

36° 47.1′ N · 24° 34.8′ E

Kimolos's small port, a quiet harbour village below the hilltop Chorio, about 3 nm across the strait from Pollonia. It is the best-sheltered berth on the island and a peaceful contrast to busy Adamas.

Practical

Sailing Issues: 'the best shelter in a quiet delightful village'; open to SE winds, which can build high waves; NE winds send in a heaving but mostly harmless swell; solid holding in sand and weed; gusts from NNE. The harbour is complete: raft alongside the south pier, or preferably go stern-to in the new NE basin or alongside near the green light. Call VHF 9 or 12. Ferries dock on the outside of the mole, and the little Pollonia ferry uses its own pier at the west end. Kimolos Port Police station is on the waterfront (tel +30 22870 51071, OSM). A sandy beach with tavernas is next to the harbour (Greeka). Chorio is about 800 m uphill (el.wikipedia). Water, power and fees were not published; verify locally. A small mini-market (TO MINI) is at the harbour.

Best for

A quiet harbour night and dinner in Chorio

Season

May–Oct; uncomfortable in SE winds
