Pollonia Harbour (Milos)

36° 45.9′ N · 24° 31.6′ E

A small fishing harbour and bay at Milos's north-east tip, facing Kimolos across the strait. It is the island's second port, home to the little Kimolos car ferry, and has a strip of seafood tavernas along a sandy beach.

Practical

Sailing Issues: a packed port and bay with the island's diving centre; the favourable part of the bay has good holding and meltemi protection, but most of it is taken by a swimming zone and moorings; the quay is used by the small Kimolos ferries; visiting yachts must leave in strong NW–NE meltemi. The author prefers to anchor under the east cape of Pilonisi, or at Voudia further south. Greeka: a small harbour built around an inlet, used mainly by local fishing boats. The municipality confirms sailors can moor at Pollonia. No fuel or water point for yachts is published. The Akra Pelekouda light (Fl 2s) marks the point north of the harbour. A bakery and pharmacy are in the village (OSM).

Best for

Dinner at the tavernas and the jumping-off point for Kimolos and Polyaigos

Season
