Piraeus Ferry Port
37° 56.5′ N · 23° 38.2′ E
Greece's largest port and Athens' main ferry hub, with sailings to every Cyclades island. Yachts must give its approaches and traffic separation scheme a wide, respectful berth.
Practical
Piraeus port authority / VTS listens on VHF 13 (allovergreece; PredictWind lists VTS on 13/14/15). The Saronic Gulf Traffic Separation Scheme must be crossed at right angles and as fast as possible; SailingIssues advises keeping the engine on standby if under sail. Foot passengers' gates are generally nearer the Piraeus Metro than cruise berths; the walk can exceed a mile (Wikivoyage). Zea Marina is a short taxi ride away.
Best for
Ferrying crew to any Cyclades island
