Manolas to Profitis Ilias & Kera Walk (Thirasia)

36° 25.4′ N · 25° 20.9′ E

From Manolas a path runs south along the island's spine to the chapel of Profitis Ilias and on to Kera, an abandoned hamlet of cave houses looking down on Palea and Nea Kameni.

Practical

Coordinates: Profitis Ilias chapel (OSM). Travel.gr describes the route Manolas - Profitis Ilias - Kera with views over the Aegean; santorini.gr puts Profitis Ilias at about 270 m west of Kera. OSM: Thirasia's summit is 294 m (36.4275 N 25.3460 E) and Kera lies at 36.4198 N 25.3473 E, roughly 2 km south of Manolas. Beyond Kera a path continues to the Kimisis (Dormition) monastery at Cape Trypiti, built 1851 (travel.gr). No shade or water; carry both and start early. From a yacht, land at Korfos and climb the 270 steps first.
