Lefkes Village & Byzantine Path (Paros)

37° 3.3′ N · 25° 12.5′ E

Paros's hill village of Lefkes, and the Byzantine Road that leads downhill from it over ancient Parian marble paving to Prodromos and on toward the coast.

Practical

About 3.5 km from Lefkes to Prodromos, 1-1.5 hours at an easy pace, or 2-2.5 hours to Marpissa and on toward Piso Livadi. The paving is ancient Parian marble and gets slippery when dusty, so wear proper shoes. Almost no shade: carry plenty of water and start by 9am in summer. Buses link Marpissa, Lefkes and Parikia (KTEL; fares from about EUR 2, verify locally). The trailhead in Lefkes is tricky to find (The Common Wanderer). From the boat, the natural walk is a bus or taxi up to Lefkes from Piso Livadi or Parikia, then walk down to Piso Livadi. Lefkes is about 10 km from Parikia (Wikipedia). Position from the OpenStreetMap Lefkes village node.
