Kolymbithra Bay (Tinos)

37° 38.3′ N · 25° 9.0′ E

A deep bay on the north coast with a reed-fringed river mouth at its head and the better sandy beaches and anchorages along its east side, notably Old Agiofylaktos beach.

Practical

SailingIssues: an excellent lunch and snorkelling stop; anchor off Old Agiofylaktos (pin, the SailingIssues marker). Tinosecret: protection in S and W winds, but beware of N winds -- it faces the meltemi, so leave before it builds. The surf beach of Kolymbithra and Mikri Kolymbithra lie at the head of the bay (OpenStreetMap). Nothing ashore at the anchorage.

Best for

Lunch and snorkelling on calm or southerly days

Season

Calm, S or W winds; exposed to N winds
