Kini Bay (Syros)

37° 26.7′ N · 24° 53.9′ E

A west-coast fishing village with a sandy beach, tavernas and famous sunsets. It is the busiest anchorage on the island's lee side.

Practical

Sailingissues: anchor SSW of the red harbour light at 37.44498N 24.89837E. A rock reef runs halfway out near the beach, and the Delfini reef lies on the approach. OSM marks a rock at 1.2 m depth at about 37.4457N 24.8979E, and Grecosailor reviewers report an unmarked boulder in the south part of the bay that is not on the chart. George Yachts: 5-12 m on sand and weed, moderate holding, partial shelter, so check the set. Busy with tripper boats. Meltemi gusts funnel down through the mountains (2013 guide). The tiny ramp is usually taken by local boats. The Port Fund's fishing harbour has water and power vending machines, toilets and a ramp. Tony's Market for basics. Kini also has a small aquarium of local sea life.
