Kini Bay Rocks Snorkel (Syros)

37° 26.7′ N · 24° 53.9′ E · approximate

The rocky edges of Kini bay and the reef running out near the beach are the easiest snorkel on the west coast, a short swim from the anchorage.

Practical

Coordinate is approx: it is the 1.2 m rock OSM maps in the bay, which is the hazard to snorkel around rather than anchor on. Sailingissues warns of a rock reef running halfway out near the beach and of the Delfini reef on the approach; Grecosailor reviewers report an unmarked boulder in the south of the bay. Bottom is sand and weed (George Yachts). No published guide describes the marine life; keep to the rocky margins and stay out of the buoyed swimming zone's boat lanes. Busy with tripper boats in summer, so tow a float.

Best for

Easy snorkel from the Kini anchorage
