Kalotaritissa Bay (Donoussa)
37° 7.5′ N · 25° 49.3′ E
Wide Roussa bay on Donoussa's north-east coast, guarded by Skilonisi islet, with the hamlet of Kalotaritissa and its taverna in the north corner. It is the island's real meltemi refuge.
Practical
Two solid anchorages. The north corner near Kalotaritissa village (this position) is meltemi-proof. The bay is open only to S-E; in mild conditions the 'south anchorage' (37.1223N 25.8213E) is preferred, with excellent holding in 8-10 m. Great snorkelling at Skilonisi (sailingissues). George Yachts rates it the best meltemi shelter on Donoussa. Taverna Mitsos is ashore (+30 22850 51522). Footpath M1 runs 4.4 km back to Stavros (OSM). Trypiti beach is just west of the village.
Best for
Meltemi-proof night and snorkelling around Skilonisi
Season
Best meltemi shelter on Donoussa; open to S-E
