Chrysopigi Monastery Walk (Sikinos)
36° 41.9′ N · 25° 7.4′ E
A short walk from the Kastro in Chora out to the fortress-like 18th-century Chrysopigi monastery on its cliff, continuing if you like over the hills to Malta beach.
Practical
Position is the monastery (OSM node), the destination. sikinos.gr calls it an easy walk from Kastro; the longer signed route Kastro - Monastery - Profitis Ilias - Agia Triada - Malta beach is 6.2 km, about 2 hours 20 minutes. Malta beach is a pebbly cove with crystal-clear water, reached by dirt road and then 2.5 km on foot, or by a small boat when the weather allows; not recommended for people with mobility problems (sikinos.gr). If you anchor at Malta (see Malta Beach (Sikinos)), you can walk the route in reverse up to Chora. No shade: carry water and start early.
Best for
A half-day walk with cliff views
Season
Best Apr-Jun and Sep-Oct; early morning in summer
