Batsi Bay Anchorage (Andros)

37° 51.5′ N · 24° 46.9′ E · approximate

Anchor in Batsi bay off the beach and village when the mole is full.

Practical

SailingIssues: good holding in sand, preferred safe haven on Andros in stronger northerlies; use maximum scope (there is room) and with a well-set anchor you can ride out a meltemi. Noonsite: anchor on the north or west sides of the bay but holding is suspect, and cruisers report dragging in a minor meltemi and finding the bay untenable in a stiff northerly. Treat the two views with care: dig in well, lay plenty of chain and stay aboard in strong gusts. Open to the south. Pin is approx: north-west part of the bay about 100 m off the shore by the OpenStreetMap coastline.
