Agkali Bay (Folegandros)

36° 37.8′ N · 24° 53.6′ E · approximate

A sandy cove at the head of Vathi Bay with a small hamlet of rooms and tavernas. It is one of the island's prettiest beaches and the jumping-off point for walks and caiques to Agios Nikolaos and Livadaki.

Practical

Position approx: about 110 m off the Agkali beach point on folegandros.gr, checked against the OSM coastline. Anchor as for Vathi Bay. Sailing Issues puts the spot just south of the Agia Marina church; George Yachts gives 4-5 m sand and weed with good holding. Violent NE gusts in a strong meltemi. Ashore (folegandros.gr): hotels, rooms, tavernas, cafés and a mini-market. Tavernas listed include Psaromiligkas and Pasithea, and cafés include Perigiali, Panorama and Amoudaki. Footpaths lead to Galifos (10 minutes) and Fira (15 minutes). In summer, caiques run to Agios Nikolaos (5 minutes) and Livadaki (15 minutes). The bus to Chora (4 km) runs from here. The Agia Marina feast is on 16 July (folegandros.gr).
