Agios Georgios Anchorage (Antiparos)

36° 58.4′ N · 25° 1.6′ E · approximate

The little village of Agios Georgios at Antiparos's south-west tip looks straight across a lake-calm channel to Despotiko. Its fish tavernas and small pier make it the shore base for the Despotiko anchorage and the boats that ferry visitors to the sanctuary.

Practical

Antiparos.com: a small sheltered bay with a fine-sand beach by the chapel, several fish tavernas, and island-tour boats to Despotiko; the beach is unorganised. Sailingissues: Agios Georgios on Antiparos's west coast has a few tavernas; anchor in the Despotiko channel in 4-9 m on sand and weed (see Despotiko Anchorage). Kavas: depths of 4-10 m in the strait opposite Despotiko, and a good place for a longer stay. OpenStreetMap maps a small marina and pier at the village. Small, so treat it as a dinghy landing, not a berth. Position approximate: about 100 m south-west of the OpenStreetMap Agios Georgios marina node, off the village.
