Agia Irini Chapel & Valmas Walk (Ios)

The little off-white chapel of Agia Irini on the rocks at the harbour entrance, which seems to frame every arriving ship. A short path from it leads out past the stone lighthouse to wild Valmas beach.
Practical
Position is the Agia Irini church in OSM. Municipal Route 5 (linear): Chora - Port - Agia Irini - Valmas beach is 2.1 km, about 45 minutes one way, and easy. Walk it back for sunset at the lighthouse (Visit Ios). Valmas is rocky and wild but sits inside the Bay of Ios. Gialos has two listed monuments: Agia Irini and Agios Georgios.
