Adamas Marina (Milos)

36° 43.4′ N · 24° 26.7′ E

The yacht harbour of Adamas, Milos's main port, at the back of the huge flooded volcanic crater that forms Milos Bay. It is one of the few places in the western Cyclades where you can sit out a full meltemi at the quay, with tavernas, supermarkets and the island bus a few steps away.

Practical

Sailing Issues rates it 'excellent protection in NNW–SE winds, even in Meltemia, but dangerous in westerlies and southerlies'. Ask the harbourmaster for a berth. Moor stern-to on the north side of the pier/pontoon, watching for a shoal (usually marked), or on either side of the ferry pier along the town front, where ferry wash is a problem. The inside (north side) is usually full, and yachts on the outside cannot stay in westerly winds. The municipality's tourism site says the Adamas marina offers refuelling, water and electricity. Berths are run by the Municipal Port Fund (Dimotiko Limeniko Tamio Milou, office on the waterfront): tel +30 22870 22130. Clearance is done through the Port Authority next door. noforeignland reviewers call the berthing fees reasonable and the staff helpful, but say rubbish disposal is a long walk away. No current fee table is published, so verify locally. OpenSeaMap shows a red lateral light (Fl R 3s) on the Adamas mole. Supermarkets, bakeries, banks and ATMs, pharmacies and a medical unit are all within about 300 m of the quay.
