French Polynesia gas bottles are swapped or refilled through Mobil service stations, which pass them to Gaz de Tahiti's plant on Motu Uta.
Practical
Coordinates: the Mobil station near Taina (Tahiti Cruisers Guide), where tanks are taken Mon, Wed and Fri. Near downtown, the Mobil next to Ace Hardware (-17.531893, -149.571021) takes bottles; turnaround is usually 2–3 days (a Noonsite report says drop off Mon/Wed/Fri morning, back in 2 days, 2019). The Mobil at Taravao also forwards bottles. Gaz de Tahiti's plant is at -17.528465, -149.575008, on the road to Motu Uta. Very rusty bottles are refused. Blue Campingaz bottles can be refilled via the Papeete Mobil. Fittings: Ace Hardware; Plomberium Tahiti, 245 Av du Chef Vairaatoa (fibreglass-tank fittings, 11-2023); Bricko (pigtails, regulators, 2020). North American tank fittings are not sold locally.
