Marina Apooiti (Raiatea)

16° 43.7′ S · 151° 28.7′ W

The charter capital of French Polynesia: a small, enclosed marina on Raiatea's north-west shore, home base for The Moorings, Sunsail and Tahiti Yacht Charter, about 1 nm west of the airport.

Practical

80 berths for boats 13–55 ft; maximum draft 7.5 ft (2.3 m). Visitors' wharf 197 ft long, dredged to 9.8 ft (3 m) (Tahiti Tourisme listing). The 2025 brief lists a visitors' dock plus 4 berths for sailing boats, 2–3 days maximum. Contact the marina manager in advance on VHF 12 or 16, or by phone (40 66 12 20, Monday to Friday). Water and electricity, Wi-Fi (first hour free), laundry help. A sail loft (Voilerie Aveia), the Hemisphère Sub dive centre, a sailing school and the Yacht Club of Raiatea (Hobie Cat 16 hire), La Voile d'Or restaurant and a craft shop are on site. A grocery is outside the gate, with a supermarket, car rental and the airport within walking distance. Rubbish bins are for marina customers only: pay at the harbour office, sort waste and use clear bags. In February 2020 a cruiser found the visitor dock (4–5 boats) full but was allowed to med-moor to the outside wall, which charter boats use in high season. The marina has been run by GIE UMA since 1995.
