Baie Maroe Large-Vessel Zones

16° 45.5′ S · 151° 0.1′ W

Two deep anchor circles in Maroe Bay, the long east-side inlet that almost splits Huahine in two, reserved for cruise ships and very large yachts of 90-270 m.

Practical

From arrêté 912 CM. HU-1-Maroe: 16°45.468'S 151°00.102'W, 450 m swing radius. HU-2-Maroe: 16°45.402'S 150°59.55'W, 350 m radius. Both for vessels of 90-270 m, 48 h maximum, with access over 90 m on authorisation from the DPAM ports-of-call office. The 2022 rules picked Bourayne and Maroe for big ships because their bottoms can hold large anchors. Boats under 20 m may not anchor in Maroe Bay at all under the 2025 arrêté (earlier cruiser reports of anchoring in 15 m near the village are out of date). Approach through Passe Farerea.
