Afareaitu / Vaioro Waterfalls Hike

Trails from Afareaitu village up the valleys to the Vaioro and Afareaitu waterfalls, with swimming pools and freshwater eels with striking blue eyes.
Practical
Pin is Vaioro waterfall (OSM); the Putoa fall is in the next valley. Pay 100 CFP to Fly, the landowner, for permission to cross his land (2026 brief). Start from Afareaitu, reached by dinghy along the staked channel from the Vaiare (Patae) ZMR. Don't feed the eels. Slippery rocks; flash-flood risk after heavy rain.
